Pretty Painted cake

April 28, 2010

I did this cake for my soon to be sister-in-law. She likes purple so I did a purple fondant cake, with yellow as an accent. The flower is a sugar poppy. I painted the flower design on with food coloring. The three layers is something I decided to do because I love April Reed’s cake design and this mimicked it a bit.

Fashion cupcakes

April 28, 2010

These are “fashion” cupcakes I did for my son’s school auction.I made a sugar Mac eye shadow, Coach logo, Louis V logo, Prada bag, $100, pearl necklace, channel wallet, Sephora compact, 2 rings, and Mac lipstick. These were so girly and fun to do. I have really started to enjoy painting with food coloring, so doing the logos and items with brand names were fun! The frosting was a light pink buttercream that I thought went well with the cool black holders.

Farm Cake

April 27, 2010

This was a cake for my friend’s son Owen. It was his 1st  birthday!!  I made the animals, tractor, and bails of hay out of sugar paste and fondant. The pigs were in chocolate frosting ( mud) with their tails stinking out..lol. The barn was mostly buttercream so Owen could really dig in and get messy!

Mopsbot

April 27, 2010

I did a robot cake for The Silverton Mops ( Mom’s of Pre-school) group recently. I thought a colorful kids cake would be perfect..surely someone had to get the cake who had kids that would love it! He had a yummy chocolate cake inside.

Timber wolf cake

April 13, 2010

This was an auction cake I did for the Spring Fling here that was held in Mt Angel. The Auction was raising money for Sacred Heart Catholic school in Gervais and their mascot is the Timber wolves….so I decided on a Timber wolf cake. It’s WAY darker and different then a cake I’d usually make. I made the wolves out of marshmallow  fondant and sugar paste…I redid them a few times…they were harder than I thought they were going to be. The black and white was a bold contrast in color to do. I love this cake because I got to be creative with it. The downside to the cake was it was for an auction and I didn’t really think about the fact that people might not want to bid on a black cake… In the end I am happy with it!

Auction cakes are keeping me super busier then i want to be but giving back is worth the sacrifice! If I only donated cakes when it was really convenient for me what would the eternal reward be? It’s hard to bring God glory in cakes but this is a way i know i can!

Zachary’s dad Troy loves the McNary  celts so I made a celtic cake! I drew on the celtic with food coloring and the bear on top was  made by Zachary’s mom Stephanie. She also gave me the candle to put on top.
